Why Grassroots Football Matters
Football can build discipline, teamwork, mentorship, and belonging.
Football is often described as a game, but at grassroots level it becomes something larger. It becomes a place where young people learn discipline, structure, teamwork, patience, resilience, and the confidence to belong to something bigger than themselves.
Sport as discipline
The Capt. Irene Ndanu Soccer Summit recognizes that talent alone is not enough. Young players need trusted adults, coaching support, life skills, and a programme that treats their dreams with seriousness.
Community participation
Across Machakos County, the summit brings together teams, wards, families, coaches, and local communities. That matters because local pride is easier to build when people can see the work happening.
Leadership lesson
